Our mission:

Establish a state-of-the-art health center in San Juan de Miraflores, a district where thousands of children and families are trapped in a cycle of poverty and inadequate healthcare.

Public Health System Failing to Meet Demand

Public healthcare facilities in San Juan de Miraflores and Villa María del Triunfo are stretched to their limits. MINSA data shows that the public system is operating at over 120% capacity, with patients waiting months for life-saving treatments. The World Bank confirms that preventable diseases account for over 50% of hospital admissions in Peru, an inefficiency that we aim to combat by providing timely, preventive care at our center.

Addressing the core questions

Why and How Can we deliver specialized Healthcare with this “Project” and For What Purpose?”

We Know the District, Have Experience in Its Key Public Health Centers, and an 800+ Square Meter Site Ready to Develop—All We Need Are Partners

San Juan de Miraflores, along with Villa María del Triunfo, faces a public health crisis. According to data from MINSA (Peruvian Ministry of Health), the district suffers from disproportionately high rates of child mortality, respiratory diseases, and untreated chronic conditions. Over 20% of children in these areas experience malnutrition, and infant mortality rates are nearly double the national average.

Public hospitals in Lima are overwhelmed, with reports of wait times exceeding six months for specialist consultations. This creates a dangerous gap in care that leaves families without access to critical health services when they need them most. Our health center will bridge this gap, offering timely and specialized care that the public system simply cannot provide.

Public hospitals in Lima, particularly in San Juan de Miraflores, often suffer from overcapacity, with wait times for specialist appointments extending beyond six months. By building a dedicated health center, we will provide faster, more efficient access to critical health services, reducing the strain on public hospitals and improving outcomes for our patients. Our center will also emphasize preventive care, which has been proven to reduce hospitalizations and emergency visits by over 25% in similar communities.

The selection of these specialties is based on extensive research and the specific health needs of the community. Studies show that residents of San Juan de Miraflores and Villa María del Triunfo are more vulnerable to preventable diseases due to economic hardship and limited access to specialized care. By focusing on pediatrics, pulmonology, nutrition, cardiology, traumatology, psychology, and oncologic surgery, our center will directly address the region’s most urgent health concerns, filling critical gaps left by the public health system.

Our Core Specialties: Targeting the most urgent needs

Pediatrics: A Future Worth Fighting For

Children represent the future of San Juan de Miraflores, but nearly 1 in 3 children suffer from preventable conditions such as malnutrition and chronic respiratory illnesses, according to UNICEF Peru. By establishing a world-class pediatrics department, we aim to drastically reduce preventable illnesses and deaths among the district’s most vulnerable population.

Heart Health Shouldn’t Be a Luxury

Cardiovascular disease is a silent killer in Peru’s most impoverished areas. Many people in San Juan de Miraflores are unaware they suffer from heart conditions until it’s too late. Public hospitals are not equipped for the level of early detection and ongoing care that is required. Our cardiology department will provide life-saving diagnostic and treatment services, addressing a growing crisis in the district. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), heart disease is responsible for nearly 20% of deaths in low-income Peruvian communities.

Pulmonology: Combatting a Respiratory Health Crisis

Respiratory diseases are the number one cause of hospitalization in San Juan de Miraflores and Villa María del Triunfo. During Lima’s winter months, cases of pneumonia, asthma, and bronchitis skyrocket, overwhelming public hospitals. MINSA reports that respiratory diseases account for over 30% of hospital admissions in the region. Our specialized pulmonology unit will focus on both prevention and treatment, reducing the need for emergency care and hospital admissions.

Rapid Response to Accidents and Injuries

In a district with high rates of traffic accidents and workplace injuries, access to urgent trauma care is critical. Trauma victims in these areas often face long delays for treatment due to overcrowded public hospitals. According to Peru’s National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), trauma-related hospital admissions in Lima are rising by 4% each year. Our traumatology department will ensure that patients receive prompt and effective care, reducing the risk of long-term disabilities.

Mental Health for All

The mental health crisis in Peru is often overlooked, especially in impoverished communities. In San Juan de Miraflores, over 50% of adolescents report symptoms of depression or anxiety, according to MINSA. Yet, there are few, if any, public mental health services available to treat these conditions. Our psychology department will offer counseling and mental health support for children, adolescents, and adults, aiming to break the cycle of untreated mental health issues that plague the district.

Fighting Cancer with Early Intervention

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in Peru, yet early detection and treatment remain out of reach for most of the population. Over 70% of cancer cases in Peru are detected late, according to the Peruvian Cancer Institute (INEN). Our oncologic surgery department will focus on early diagnosis and surgical interventions, giving patients in San Juan de Miraflores a fighting chance against this deadly disease.

The inclusion of a nutrition specialty in the proposed health center in San Juan de Miraflores is crucial for addressing the severe health disparities in the area, particularly childhood anemia. San Juan de Miraflores and neighboring districts like Villa María del Triunfo have alarmingly high rates of anemia, with national statistics showing that about 40.5% of children in Lima Metropolitan, particularly in these districts, suffer from anemia. This condition, primarily due to iron deficiency, severely impacts cognitive and physical development, making early intervention through proper nutrition essential.

A Family Story That Shapes our mission

This clinic is inspired by the work of many doctors who have dedicated their entire lives to care for the lives of many children who for various reasons cannot access basic medical care, especially to the doctor Cesar Amaya Panizo beloved father and grandfather.

The *880 square meters* of land ready for development hold a significant legacy, as it is a family property poised to honor the name of Dr. César Amaya, who served as the director of the Hospital del Niño in Lima-Callao from 1968 to 1970. During his tenure, Dr. Amaya played a pivotal role in the establishment of the **monoblock building**, which became an essential facility for pediatric care in the region. This building now serves as the “Instituto de Salud del Niño (INSN)”, continuing his mission of providing quality healthcare to children. Dr. Amaya’s unwavering dedication to medicine and his substantial contributions to Peru in the 20th century are a testament to his remarkable legacy. Now, his family and professionals that follow his achievements, we aim to build upon his impact by developing this health center, ensuring that his vision for improving healthcare in our country lives on and continues to benefit future generations.
